Awesome post Jaap.

Noticed this effect on a client site, where the slowest web parts on the page were the xls list view we parts.

I am wondering how to fix it. Hmmm, many options. Would be awesome to get a fix that doesn’t involve rewriting or inheriting the webpart, I am curious to know what your solution is.

Hi there,

in SP2010, the XsltListViewWebPart has autorefresh functionality built-in. All you need to do is configure it properly.

Hey mate! Thanks for your comment. Glad you liked the post

I am pretty sure the InvalideAll() occurs very early on in the page lifecycle, way before the call SaveChanges(), so I suspect that this is not the cause for @Cache being null.

That is an awesome blog post! Thanks for sharing, really interesting to see how you broke the investigation down.

Regarding the reason for the @Cache value being sent a null value from the UpdateWebCache stored procedure. Isn’t the reason down to the previous SaveChanges() function which performs the InvalidateAll()?
